The Top Ten Unix Shell Commands You Use
According to some recent postings in many other weblogs I was also interested
what my top 10 unix commands on my box@work are, and well, my result is
different from most others I have seen:
As user:
75 ssh
70 cd
59 ls
44 su
31 telnet
21 ping
19 vi
17 vim
14 apt-cache
10 glxheads
As root:
109 cd
83 ls
48 apt-get
24 vim
22 ping
19 du
14 rm
13 vi
12 cp
11 grep
BTW: The command to get this top ten list may look like this one:
history | awk '{print $2}' | sort | uniq -c | sort -rn | head -10
